Ghent: Three arrested for trying to force abortion

The police in Ghent arrested a couple from Assenede and their son on suspicion of attempting an abortion, deprivation of freedom and intentional battery and assault. The family manhandled the son's pregnant girlfriend for hours in an attempt to end her pregnancy.

The couple opposed the pregnancy of the girlfriend, a 29 year old Moroccan. They locked up the three month pregnant woman in their residence. According to the woman's testimony she was beaten and kicked. She was also electrocuted with a cow pricker.

The victim escaped Sunday and warned the police. She was taken to a hospital. The woman and fetus are doing relatively well.

The three suspects confessed and will appear tomorrow before the courts.

That's terrible. What kind of people would try and force an abortion on a girl?!
