Belgium: Proposal to ban burkas

The Belgian French-speaking liberal party MR (Reformist Movement) wants a burka ban all over the country. The MR fraction leader in the Senate, Christine Defraigne, will propose such legislation, reports Le Soir.
A burka is a piece of clothing which completely covers the body. Defraigne doesn't want people to walk about in public unrecognized.
In various municipalities police regulations already prohibit wearing a burka. Opponent think the regulation is superfluous, since the burka remains very marginal in Belgium.
