Denmark: Winner of the Miss Headscarf 2008 competition

The winner of DR's Miss Headscarf 2008 competition is Huda Falah (18) from Gentofte. Falah was born in Iraq and has been wearing a headscarf since she was 9. She says it was her own choice, as she saw her mother and cousins wearing the headscarf.

Her reason for wearing a headscarf today: women are like diamonds, and a diamond isn't displayed to everybody. She signed up to the competition since she thinks there's a barrier between Muslim and Danish youth, and saw the competition as a way of breaking it down.

She's currently learning social work and health care.

Fashion expert Uffe Burchardt wrote that it's a fantastic and shocking color (big summer trend) which shows attitude and penetration. It's beautifully draped on her breast. Perfect style, which almost imitates a little work of art.

Muslim fashion blogger Helen Latifi writes that the royal blue headscarf is a lovely contrast to her dark brown colors. She looks deep, reflecting and strong. Her beauty is hidden. The headscarf demonstrates reflection and inner calm.

For the other winners, see the skum site.

  2. The headscarf demonstrates reflection and inner calm.

I agree, if by 'reflection and inner calm' she means repression mandated by a medieval deathcult's dogma.

  3. "...penetration....", Hah!, yeah right.

  4. Your blog only presents one side here. I demand coverage also of the "Miss Chastity Belt" competition, along with "Miss Honor Killing Victim". :-)

  9. This would be pretty darn hip, chic, and cutting edge... were this Saudi Arabia. But this is not Saudi Arabia, this is the West and the year is 2008.

And in our non-theocratic free world, this sort of thing can only be considered retrogressive, despite the infatuation some shallow minds have with novelty.

  11. I don't know aout you, but everyone I know shows off the beauty of their diamonds. There is a reason for this covering and it is religious oppression. Just try to defy that and they will beat you. Nice people...

  14. Does her husband appreciate his property being paraded in front of a bunch of heathens?

  20. What can I say that hasn't already been said? I say dittos to all the sane commenters out there. :-)

I'd say good luck to her in getting into the health care profession, assuming her husband lets her out of the house to go to med school or to go to work at the hospital. Do they make surgical scrubs that fit over a burqua? And assuming her father doesn't Honor Kill her for "his property being paraded in front of a bunch of heathens."

  21. "Her beauty is hidden."

What?!?! It is not. She is still super hot and I'd take her home in a minute. Seriously! You can still tell if a chic is hot (not fat and ugly) with a headscarf on and I've seen several girls wearing these that I'd hit (not in an abusive way) in a minute. Not sure what the purpose of the scarf is, but it doesn't keep me from lusting after some of these dark skinned hotties!!!

  22. Ironically, it was the so-called Mainstream Media and their, 'Small, unrepresentative minority of extremists' mantra which used to have me thinking that Islam was just another world religion. But it's the observation of the seemingly endless stream of barbarism perpetrated in the name of Islam over the past half decade or so, and the absolute silence of the so-called moderate majority which's led me to my current assessment of Islam.

  23. You Euroweenies are going to reap what you have sown. Islam is a religion of war and hostility and you have left the gate open. Open your eyes...it's not about a head scarf....it's about control. The USA will not bail you out the next time.

  24. She wants to pursue healthcare? I wouldn't want her taking care of me, simply for sanitation reasons. I'm all for tolerance, but I find it hypocritical to tolerate intolerance.

  33. I think she is hideous and she should be called Miss Mecca or Miss Jiahdis or Miss Terror

The civilized Miss Iraq pageant organized by Talat Model Management has the real women, a pageant opposed by Shiite Majority in Iraq because they rather have the head scarf competition rather than a civilized capitalist festival.

Miss Iraq winners are pretty www.iraqibeauties.blogspot.com check them out next week when they post pics of past winners

  35. Muslems own the cleaners on the corner. One day while picking up my clothes i asked the lady behind the counter about her head covering . She said that she wore it out of respect to her husband, that other men shouldn't be allowed to see her Beauty (hair). My response was Beauty was from within...from the heart and soul.

  37. And there was me thinking that I had a visceral aversion to a hateful barberous, misogynistic and primitive deathcult because of the hatred, barberism, misogyny &c. But it turns out it's just because I'm jealous.
    Huh.
