Amsterdam: Company threatens to stop mosque building

Het Oosten, the Amsterdam based company that is building the big mosque in West-Amsterdam is threatening to stop the building if the German headquarters of Milli Görüs will persist in influencing the mosque towards a more fundamentalist course. Het Oosten is responding by that to signals that show the Cologne based Turkish movement is again trying to take over the mosque.

The mosque has recently been through several politically related upheavals.

The grounds are owned by the municipality. Het Oosten is building 110 apartments, offices and assembly rooms, while developer Manderen is building the mosque itself.
