Netherlands: Couple gets welfare, hides ownership of real-estate in Turkey
A couple in Hoogezand-Sappemeer, Netherlands, is suspected of having swindled the municipality for 200,000 euro. The two received welfare but concealed the fact that they owned about 400,000 euro worth of real estate in Turkey.
The couple owned 15 lots, 3 workshops and 9 apartments. Eight of the apartments were hired out. But also this rent income was concealed by them.
The Hoogezand-Sappemeer municipality has meanwhile seized the property. The couple would have to pay back the 200,000 euro of welfare.
