Mosque chosen prettiest building in Rotterdam

The Melvana Mosque, built in Ottoman style in 2001, was chosen by the people of Rotterdam as the most beautiful building in the city. The mosque was described as "timeless", and according to one voter: "It's graceful lines stands out against the rigid city architecture." Others saw it as a symbol of warmth and hospitality.

The vote was a close race, with the Erasmus Bridge and the "white house" coming close after.
