Odense: Palestinian workers boycott McDonald's
The owner and workers at the McDonald's in Odense (Denmark) are nervous because of an SMS campaign which claims that the burger-chain supports Israel in the conflict in the Middle East.
In Odense's restaurant the campaign means that workers of Palestinian background aren't coming to work.
According to the owner in Odense, Ernst Kier, it's terrible that his workers don't know whether to trust the SMSs or their coworkers in the restaurant.
The SMSs say that McDonald's supports Israel in the conflict in the Middle East. They were sent round Denmark in recent days. Worldwide, American users of Facebook are calling for a boycott of both McDonald's and Starbucks for the same reason.
"But I don't support any conflict, why should I do that, I've never wanted to do that," says Ernst Kier.
He's sent SMSs and written mails to all his coworkers to dispose of the campaign.
He says what he worries most about is that somebody will harm him because of the accusations.
