The prison guards at Vorst and Sint-Gillis prison are for now getting police protection on the way to and from work. The new decision comes after two guards were attacked on the tram by immigrant kids. The two were threatened with a knife and called "murderers".
The situation at the prison has been very tense since the death of a Moroccan prisoner last week. The prisoners swear at the guard and attempt to provoke riots. A couple of times already the prisoners refused to return to their cells after their walk.
