Bosnia: Sarajevo almost fully Muslim

This was apparently true already a decade ago.

-----

The Bosnian capital of Sarajevo, once a symbol of ethnic diversity, has become an entirely Muslim city, a Croat deputy in the Bosnian Parliament, Branko Zrno, said on Wednesday.

"Sarajevo definitely isn't a multi-ethnic city, but the city of one group, the Bosniacs (Muslims), " Zrno told local media.

He pointed out that Serbs and Croats in Sarajevo have no institutional protection, and continue to leave the capital.

Zrno echoed allegations from Bosnian Serb leaders, including Serb entity Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, that non-Muslims in Sarajevo suffered discrimination and were denied their rights.

Zrno said that the Croatian presence in the city had been halved and that neither Croats nor Serbs held any important posts in local government.

Serbs claim that in the city of 400,000 only 7,000 Serbs have remained, compared to 160,000 before the 1992-1995 civil war.

The Serb claims have been supported by the Muslim President of the Bosnian Helsinki committee for human rights, Srdjan Dizdarevic, who said in a recent interview that Sarajevo had become a "monoethnic" city.

"Over 90 percent of Sarajevo inhabitants belong to only one group, the Bosniacs," Dizdarevic told weekly Fokus.

"Ethnic cleansing in this city has, unfortunately, been successfully completed. If the will exists to reconstruct Bosnia on multiethnic principles, one should start with Sarajevo," he concluded.

But as ethnic tensions deepened, the Muslim chairman of a three-man rotating state presidency, Haris Silajdzic, on Wednesday launched a fresh attack on the Serb entity.

Silajdzic repeated earlier claims that the Serb entity is a "symbol of genocide" allegedly perpetrated by its first president, Radovan Karadzic.

Karadzic is currently in detention and the Hague-based war crimes tribunal last week charged him with genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.

"Karadzic has been arrested, but his project continues to live," Silajdzic said. Karadzic was arrested in Belgrade two weeks ago and extradited to The Hague last week.

"The international community is obliged to remove consequences of the genocide," Silajdzic added, referring to the Serb entity.

The statement prompted the top international representative in Bosnia, Slovak diplomat Miroslav Lajcak, to state that it is Karadzic who faces prosecution in The Hague, not the Serb entity.

"The Serb entity is not a creation of Karadzic's, but of the Dayton peace accord," Lajcak said.

The Dayton accord, signed in November 1995, ended Bosnia's civil war and divided the country into two entities with most of the powers of a state: the Serb entity and a Muslim-Croat federation.

Bosnia's majority Muslim leaders have continued to call the Serb entity a "genocidal creature" that should be abolished - a move strongly opposed by Serbs.

This is normal practise for muslims. As long as they are a minority they mouth democratic sentiments. The nearer they get to a majority the more intolerant and discriminatory they become and the more they try to institute the fascist sharia law.
One has only to look at malaysia which has approx 60% muslims. They have institutional racism as part of the political agenda.
They discriminate against non-muslims for govt jobs thus encouraging non-muslims to convert to Islam.
Dhimmitude lives.

Exactly. It's like I said about abrogation. Quoting Robert Spencer:

"This is a very ancient Islamic understanding of the Qur’an: in the earliest biography of Muhammad, the eighth-century Muslim chronicler Ibn Ishaq explains the contexts of various verses of the Qur’an by saying that Muhammad received revelations about warfare in three stages: first, tolerance; then, defensive warfare; and finally, offensive warfare in order to convert the unbelievers to Islam or make them pay the jizya, the non-Muslim poll-tax (see Sahih Muslim 4294, etc.). Commentaries on the Qur’an by venerable Islamic authorities including Ibn Kathir, Ibn Juzayy, As-Suyuti and others also emphasize that Surat At-Tawba, the ninth sura of the Qur’an and the one containing the exhortation to make war against and subjugate the People of the Book (9:29) abrogates every peace treaty in the Qur’an." http://frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID=3EBBF3CD-1F0C-4455-B2AD-E0C25C3AAEDC

I also think that a lot of the non-Muslims just left for Serbo-Croatia, but maybe that's naive, and it certainly constitutes a type of ethnic cleansing (exile).

What do Bosnians have against vowels? All their words are like "glrm" and "vdzrk."

To Daphne and Jdamn13 -

Firstly, Sarajevo is mostly Muslim today is because the Serbs and Croats left. Nobody forced them to leave. And if the reason they left Sarajevo is because of discriminations, that would be expected that since their peoples tried to exterminate the Bosniaks.

And just to remind you, there are dozens of towns across Serb-controlled Bosnia which have fewer Muslims.

Now, unlike the Serbs and Croats who left Sarajevo, these Muslims left under the threat of death.

You want to talk about religion ? Now's that Christian terror for you.

For your information Daphne - you're so clever by the way - the first Islamic state in Medina which was led by the Prophet himself, there were Jews and pagan Arabs and their rights were fully protected.

I suggest you googled the charter of Medina.

And it's quite clear that you've never heard of Hasdai bin Shapirut.

What's that dear ?

Oh, he was the Jewish prime minister to the Caliph of Islamic Spain.

And do you know that it was under the Spanish Muslims that the Sephardic Jews had their golden age ?

No ? Of course not. You should check that out also.

And not to forget, just where did Spanish Jews went to when they were forced out by the Catholics ?

Yes, many of them went to Muslim-majority countries including the Ottoman Empire.

Indeed, Jews who had been forced to convert to Christianity in Spain openly announced their reversion to Judaism upon reaching the shores of the Ottoman lands.

So trust me when I say you're wrong. Completely wrong.

What happened in Malaysia is political. The very fact that you do not know that the non-Muslim natives of eastern Malaysia have the same rights as the natives of western Malaysia who happened to be Muslim. It is not about Muslim against non-Muslim but indigenous population against non-indigenous population.

Get your facts right, dear Daphne, all of them.

Dhimmitude lives ? In your case, it's more like a pandemonium of ignorance.

And dear jdamn13 -

do you spent your days just quoting people like Robert Spencer instead of actually learning the sources yourself.

I doubt you even owned a Quran. Please go get one and read it for yourself.

For example, what exactly do you know about the jizya ? Do you know that it is lesser in amount than the zakat which Muslims must pay ?

And please read that Sura At-Tawbah for yourself and then make your judgment.

The Quran says "There is no compulsion in matters of religion" and "Your duty is only to convey the message" and "Let those who wish to believe, believe in it, and let those who wish to disbelieve, reject it".

Forced conversions ? Where ?

Muslims ruled over Spain for 800 years and at the time when the Muslims lost it, Spain had a Christian majority population.

In India, Muslims ruled for over 1000 years and when Muslim rule ended, India was still Hindu majority.

Muslims ruled the Balkans for around 500 years, and except for the Bosnians and Albanians, most peoples in the Balkans are still Christians.

Constrast that with what happened in the Americas. Name me one country there which was occupied by the Christians which had maintained its original religion.

You cannot ? Of course not.

People like you speak of forced conversions to Islam while ignoring forced conversions to Christianity.

And you speak of forced conversions to Islam while ignoring the hundreds of millions of Christians and Hindus whose forefathers had lived under Muslim rule for hundreds of years.

Ignorance is such a sad thing. Even sadder is the refusal to acknowledge that one is ignorant.

"Firstly, Sarajevo is mostly Muslim today is because the Serbs and Croats left. Nobody forced them to leave. And if the reason they left Sarajevo is because of discriminations, that would be expected that since their peoples tried to exterminate the Bosniaks."

Just as Lebanon at the time of independence was a majority christian state and now is predominately muslim. This has nothing to do with demographics but initimidation. Just as other faiths are intimidated in most muslim countries. Copts in Egypt, bahias, parsees in Iran, Hindus in Afghansistam and Pakistan. Did I forget to mention jews & christians in all those countries. And let's not forget the genocide in Sudan. Muslims will tax, intimidate or kill people to get their majority. What are muslim countries doing about the genocide in Sudan? Now that's muslim terror for you.

"The first Islamic state in Medina which was led by the Prophet himself, there were Jews and pagan Arabs and their rights were fully protected."

How nice of Muhammad to treat the Jews and pagans well. Since Jews formed a sizeable part of the community and as Muhammad was there as a guest it was the least he could do. It did not last long though. As soon as he robbed a few caravans and got some loot he changed his mind. Especially as the jews dis not recognise him as a prophet of god. In a huff he turned away from facing Jerusalem and turned to Mecca to say prayers. To teach the jews a lesson for their hospitality he beheaded the entire Banu Qurayza tribe. That's genocide. Then he enslaved all their women and children. That's rape.

"And it's quite clear that you've never heard of Hasdai bin Shapirut.
What's that dear?"

Quite right dear. I have never heard of Hasdai bin Shapirut. Thank you for informing me.
Tell me dear, have you heard of Joseph ha-Nagid. He was a vizer to the Berber king as well. In 1066 he was crucified by muslims. They then turned on the jewish community and massacred 5000 innocent people. Is that what you meant when you talked of the golden age of Islam?

"What happened in Malaysia is political. The very fact that you do not know that the non-Muslim natives of eastern Malaysia have the same rights as the natives of western Malaysia who happened to be Muslim. It is not about Muslim against non-Muslim but indigenous population against non-indigenous population."

You are making a spurious distinction between indigenous and non-indigenous. They are all Malasian citizens. Your distinction is racist. According to your reasoning the indigenous population of Europe could discrimnate against the non-indigenous i.e. muslim population and not be racist. That is islamic double talk.
