UK: "Recognizing sharia" in England.
The Boston Review came out with a series of articles about Democracy and Muslim Minorities
In one of these article, John R. Bowen discusses Sharia law in England: Private Arrangements, "Recognizing sharia" in England. It's a rather long article, so I did not yet have a chance to read through it carefully, but I think Bowen does bring up the basic problems: the fact that immigrants usually live in two countries, not only two cultures, and must abide by both their legal systems, as well as the risk that Sharia courts, with their very existence, could force Muslims, women in particular, to turn to them.
