The 'week of understanding' (tolerance) in Erbach (Baden-Württemberg) ended with German-Turkish story time in the public library for 4-year-olds from eight kindergartens in the city.
While the parents relaxed in the back with coffee or tea, Hafize Oguz and library manager Marianne Schneider read "The Little Polar-bear", a story by Dutch author Hans de Beer, to about 20 children, alternating between German and Turkish. The kids could also follow the adventures of the little polar bear with slides.
The Turksih children had double the fun, since they could understand both the German and Turkish versions.
After reading the tale of Sleeping Beauty (in Turkish: Uyuyan güzel), the children had the opportunity to feel a prayer rug and hear a few words about Islam.
