Roshonara Choudhry, 21, smiled and reached out to shake hands with Stephen Timms in an apparent act of friendship as she plunged a kitchen knife into his stomach, the Old Bailey heard.
She allagedly admitted to police she had set out to kill the MP because she was “hoping to get revenge for the people of Iraq".
But in what is understood to be the only case of its kind in living memory, the jury was told how Miss Choudhry, who does not accept the authority of the court, has refused to attend the trial and has forbidden lawyers representing her to offer any defence or even cross-examining witnesses.(more)
