Karel De Gucht, the Belgian foreign minister, was interviewed on Belgian TV and asked how he sees Jesus and Mohammed. The original interview, conducted on the program L'Invité on RTL-TVI on May 18th, 2008 (French), can be seen on the LVB site.
[Which association does the concept of 'Jesus' call up for you?]
Must I say something about it? Jesus? I think that it's a historical character, and very interesting. As you know I'm an atheist but that doesn't alter the fact that Christianity played a very important role in our history.
[The prophet Mohammed?]
The great difference between Jesus and Mohammed is that Christianity has evolved and Islam hasn't been able to evolve. That is why there's now this great tension, I think.
