Due to security concerns, Saint Nicholas (Sinterklaas) will be assisted in Amsterdam by Zwarte Piets (traditional helpers) of Moroccan origin. The Piets should prevent too much pestering by Moroccan youth.
According to Henk van der Kroon, head of the Amsterdam Sinterklaas Central that is the only way to maintain order.
Besides employing Moroccan Piets, Sinterklaas Central also informs the police ahead of time before a visit to a troublesome neighborhood. For security, several agents of the municipal watch stand ready in the background.
"The Moroccan Piet then shouts at the young kids in Arabic that they should go away," says Van der Kroon. "That works well, since these are kids aged 10, 11. They do everything: pull the mitre, spit, scream and shout, kick in the Sinterklaas' car.
We advise Sint to always stop a bit further op than the visit should be and to be a bit discrete. If then know where Sinterklaas is, they throw stones at the windows and will be pests."
According to Van der Krron every Sinterklaas has gone through this experience. "But like we do it, it's reasonably controllable"

So the pain-in-the-ass Moroccan youths in Amsterdam are now "assisting" a Christian mythical figure?
Peter, Saint Nicholas is a historic figure. He traditionally comes to Europe (and the Netherlands) every year and gives out treats to the kids. You can read more about it on Wiki.
