30,000 Turkish Dutch gathered last week in the ArenA in Amsterdam to celebrate Mohamed's birthday. During the Kutlu Dogum Haftasi week (blessed birth week), Mohammad is commemorated by reciting from the Koran and singing religious songs.

Every year the event takes place in a different city in Europe, and this year it was in Amsterdam. Entrance was free.

The four hour program included Koran recitations, hymns and lectures. Dutch blog Wij Blijven Hier report that this was the biggest event of Dutch Muslims, and yet, only one regional website reported about it.
