Macedonia: Islamic community accuses gov't of Islamophobia
The Islamic religious community in Macedonia (IVZM) accused the government of dividing people on religious basis, Macedonian Utrinski Vesnik reports on Wednesday.
IVZM remarked that the amendments to the denationalization act will deprive the community of its properties in Stara Carsia in Skophe.
"We gave the government a chance to correct its discriminative and Islamophobic policy but the last move it made with the amendments to the act is a clear signal that instead of providing equal rights to all citizens and heading towards the EU and NATO it chose to undermine the basic principles of the human rights and deprive people from their property," said Sulejman Redjepi, head of IVZM. In his words the government wants to declare itself the legitimate owner of the IVZM property.
