Sweden: Two suspects arrested in arson attack (UPDATED)

Sweden: Police arrest suspect in arson attack

Update 2:

Another suspect, a 19 year old man, was arrested in Helsingborg (SE) Sunday morning. The man is from Landskrona, as is the man arrested Saturday, and he doesn't have a police record.

The 21 year old suspect apparently does have a police record for attempted theft, driving without a license and reckless driving.

Update: the man is of Kosovar origin. (NL)

A 21 year old man suspected of the arson attack against Lars Vilks was arrested in Landskrona Saturday night. Findings in Vilks' garden led police to the man.

The suspect is not formerly known to the police. The police are not willing to give out more details about the man or his motives. Swedish newspaper HD says that the man boasted about the attack on the internet.

Vilks himself thinks at least two people were involved in the attack. He says they forgot their knives and that one was missed by the police and found by a photographer. The other knife was found by the road.

He also thinks Islamic fundamentalists are responsible for the attack, and that it wasn't by chance that it took place Friday night, after Friday prayers. He says police should be more alert on Fridays.
