Norway: Iranian stoning case lawyer seeks asylum

Iranian lawyer Mohammad Mostafaei, who has defended a woman sentenced to death by stoning in Iran, has arrived in Norway where he has applied for asylum, reports said Sunday.


Mostafaei was due later Sunday to address a news conference organized by the Foreign Press Association, Bjorn Lindahl, a board member of the association, told the German Press Agency dpa.


One of Mostafaei's clients is Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, who has been convicted of adultery and murdering her husband and sentenced to be stoned to death.
