Ghent: Stop the Islamization campaign

Vlaams Belang introduced its "Stop Islamization in Ghent" campaign. Anke Vandermeersch together with Flemish parliament member Johan Deckmyn are leading the campaign. The party intends to distribute 20,000 pamphlets in the "neighborhoods most fiercely hit by Islamization".

"Wherever Islamization increases, local customs come under fire," explains Deckmyn. He points to the pulpit in the Church of Our Lady in Dendermonde which featured in the Turkish paper Yenicag as insulting to Islam.

The campaign is accompanied by demands against subsidizing Islam, sham marriages and ritual slaughter, and for a headscarf ban for teachers and stricter regulations for additional mosques.
