Italy: Eleven year old sold in marriage

A few months ago one of the British papers had a story about a gypsy wedding which took place in London. The bride delighted in the ceremony, her dress and her new grown up status. After the church wedding both bride and groom each went to their own, separate homes. They're only children after all (somewhere in their early teens) and won't have sex till they were 18, we were assured. I was quite surprised at the tone of the article, but had not managed to find it again.

Forced marriage is forced marriage, even when the girl is not raped. Here's a few more stories on gypsy weddings in Europe and the concerns of authorities about these minor weddings: 1, 2, 3, 4. The Roma have been a hot topic in Italy this year, and this story adds on to quite a few others.

-----

Italian police arrested a 21 year old Kosovar-Albanian who had married an 11 year old girl and had gotten her pregnant.

The boy's parents had come to Serbia last year. Bargaining for the girl had started at 25,000 euro, and the man had finally bought her for 17,000. The boy's parents had been living in the northern Italian town of Brescia for many years, and so the girl was smuggled into Italy and married off in a traditional East European wedding, according to some sources, or in an Islamic wedding, according to others.

The girl was supposedly repeatedly raped by her 'husband'. When the girl, now 12, gave birth in a North-Italian clinic, authorities were notified. The man was arrested on charges of rape and enslavement.

During the first interrogation the man kept silent, according to Italian press agency Ansa Friday. His lawyer asked to release the suspect from jail and to put him under house arrest, saying that weddings organized by the families - also with very young people - were part of the culture and norms of the Roma and also of many Muslims.

The young mother and her baby is protected and treated by specialists, he added. The girl had simply told the police that such things happen by them.

An Italian politician demanded that the yoke of oppression will for once and always be lifted from these women and girls.

Ezekiel 16:4-8

4 As for your nativity, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed in water to cleanse you; you were not rubbed with salt nor wrapped in swaddling cloths. 5 No eye pitied you, to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you; but you were thrown out into the open field, when you yourself were loathed on the day you were born.
6 “And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ Yes, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ 7 I made you thrive like a plant in the field; and you grew, matured, and became very beautiful. Your breasts were formed, your hair grew, but you were naked and bare.
8 “When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time was the time of love; so I spread My wing over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine,” says the Lord GOD.

God has implied through Ezekiel that when a woman has sprouted thru puberty, she is then ready for love. The age of puberty ranges from 11-13 in a woman. He may have meant that he came by her again a few years later. I think GOD does not consider it a sin for a woman a few years into puberty to be too young for love. Since this is mere speculation on what God thinks, we have set our age of maturity at 18 in our societies. Now Ezekiel is refering to Jarusalem by using examples of a woman. With this being an example from GOD, that is what is acceptable to him.

At the turn of the 20th century the average age of puberty was 17 as marked by the female menstral cycle. Throughout the 1900's the age grew gradually younger until we see now, girls as young as 10 getting their periods. Using this passage to support pedophilia is misguided and disturbing. Because the age of 'maturity" can and has changed because of factors not entirely confirmed or agreed upon then some standard age must be set to protect children who for whatever reason are entering puberty at alarmingly young ages. God is not endorsing 11 year old marriages.

Using any so-called holy book to justify pederasty is an abomination. It is digusting and anybody who does it should be prosecuted and sent to prison.

LOL typical mis-use of the Old Testament, Jesus also said, when asked about adultery that God 'allowed' such laws due to the HARDNESS OF MEN'S HEARTS,

even Within the entire text of the Bible there is an evolutionary process, for Crying out loud.

What next, using Old Testament law to justify slavery?

Not only that you perverted thinking with your genitalia you moron,

Ezekiel 16-4-8 is a symbolism of God's covenant relationship with Israel,

Geesh, the depths of stupidity and lust to fuck little girls know no bounds do they?

And just because a girl is in puberty doesn't mean she's ready for sexual love, if that were the case, there wouldn't be the risk of 'death' in early childbirth, that is scientifically proven, knock knock to planet earth,

we are in 2008, not 1000 b.c. And btw, guess what, the earth isn't Flat either, haven't you heard?

To use these types of justifications to imply that God is tolerant of rape, is just, beyond reason. Rape is a violation of CONSENT,

the horrid reality was that in that epoch girls were chattel, and due to Free Will, as Jesus said, God allowed such, doesn't necessarily mean he assents to such, and there is also the lifespan to consider, the violent times then, the harsh conditions, I am no Bible scholar but historical evidence clearly shows, human existence then is extremely different to what it is today,

and today there is simply No justifications for the patriarchal and misogynist crap being forced onto girls and women, no matter what the religion and/or culture.

Not only that, even the Bible itself is one is going to use the Bible for some twisted justification, evolved, from concubinage to one marriage, equal rights even--why it says,

in Heaven there is no male or female, Jew or Gentile [new test], I'm not going to quote exact scriptures, one can look them up.

Also today we have what is known as Human Rights, including Human Rights of girls, children and women,

and the forced marriages and rapes of girls/children are HUMAN RIGHT VIOLATIONS

and should not be tolerated under Any religion or use of. And there is enough scriptures in the New Testament and the Old in fact, that would and could imply that God gives His consent to those Human Right principles as well.

He was, if you believe in Him as the Creator, the creator too, of free will and consent. Not just for men,

to women as well.

Now--can we get back to the modern day please--or shall we bring back chastity belts and seeking out girls with cross eyes and burning them on stakes because they are deemed as witches too?

[good grief]

raptureortribulation, Since you seem so comfortable in the Dark Ages we should try a good old fashioned psychiatric cure on you and pound an ice pick through your eye socket, shove it up into your frontal lobe and whirl it around a bit. Which is actually more civilized than what you are suggesting you perverted neanderthal.
