UK: Mosque teaches city officials about Islam
A city mosque opened its doors to firefighters, police and council officers to introduce them to the Islamic faith.
The session at Portsmouth Muslim Academy in Old Commercial Road included a question and answer session by Imam Liakoth Ali.
The aim was to build and improve links with local communities and set up events where different parts of the community have the chance to build good working relationships.
Departments across the city council were represented, along with Hampshire Fire Service and Hampshire Police. The event was a Safer Portsmouth Partnership's Protecting Communities Project.
Project officer Charlie Pericleous said: 'This was an extremely successful event in a relaxed atmosphere, which provided people attending with an interesting and informative summary of Islam.'
