EU: Koran burning trials

Three recent stories relating to Koran burning

In France, a man is on trial for burning and urinating on a Koran. The prosecutor wants three months suspended sentence and a fine of 1,000 EUR for incitement to racial and religious hatred.

In the UK a Welsh BNP candidate spent the weekend in custody for burning a Koran. He was released after charges against him were dropped, apparently due to a technicality. Police are still investigating.

In Switzerland three Hindus who intended to burn the Koran and Bible were acquitted by a Swiss court, since they did not actually do anything. They were asked to pay half the court costs because they overstepped the boundaries of personal freedom and injured the religious feelings of others.
