The University of Gothenburg will start a 30 point course in Somali this fall.
There are close to 3,000 people who speak Somali in Gothenburg. It is spoken by over 20 million people in several African countries such as Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia and north-east Kenya.
Due to teh prolonged civil war in their country, several million Somalis have lived outside Somalia since the early 1990s. There are about 20,000 people who speak the language in Sweden.
