Utrecht: Extreme right-wing Turkish party invited to congress
The Turkish Federation in the Netherlands (TFN) will be holding a congress in Utrecht this Sunday. A special guest during the gathering is Devlet Baheli, leader of the Turkish extreme right-wing party MHP (Nationalist Movement Party). The supporters of this party are called the Grey Wolves.
The gathering will take place in the De Vechtsebanen halls. About 2,000 people are expected. The Leftist organization Doorbraak (breakthrough) warned the municipality of this gathering. According to Doorbraak, MHP is a party with fascist and anti-Semitic inclinations and has public links with the criminal community in Turkey and Europe.
The Utrecht municipality informed Doorbraak that the gathering may take place since everybody in the Netherlands has a right to assembly. According to a spokesperson of the municipality they will take security measures as expected for any assembly of 2,000 people.
