(informational film on the Ramadan check)
Via De Telegraaf and Mediq (Dutch):
The Agis health insurance company and the Mediq pharmacy chain are offering special 'Ramadan checks'. Mediq pharmacies will offer advice on how to take medicines during the fast month, and how to eat before and after the fast.
According to an Agis pharmacy survey, 70% of Muslims visiting pharmacies will fast during Ramadan. Pharmacist Willem van den Spijker from Helmond says: "We know know that many don't want to take medication during the day, but we advise them to do it nonetheless. A third of my clients are Muslims. Since May we've been trying to inform them about the benefits and necessity to adhere to the prescribed medicine consumption. Sometimes we reduce the dosage, often in consultation with the specialists. We have many diabetics among Muslims, and therefore taking medication is necessary."
