Bosnia: Joint Jewish/Muslim appeal


Jewish and Muslim leaders in Bosnia have made a joint appeal to the international community use its influence to halt the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip, according to a letter published by local media on Wednesday.


"We call on Euro-Atlantic associations and world powers to use their authority and protect human right to life and peace. This is another big test for the world," mayor Semiha Borovac, a Muslim, and head of Bosnia's Jewish Community Jakob Finci said in a joint letter.


"Sarajevo rejects violence as solution to political problems and calls for dialogue and compromise. For the sake of the future of our planet, we insist on sanctity of human life," they said in the letter published by media and on Sarajevo city's official web site.
