Denmark: More protests

Denmark: More protests

Update: There are reports of protests all across Europe. With Israel now sending soldiers into Gaza, I will report more about them only if I think there's something unusually interesting.

A father teaches his son to be a suicide bomber in an anti-Israel demonstration in Odense, Denmark.

According to blogger Uriasposten, the demonstration is from last Monday.

Another demonstration in Odense took place Friday. Two local council members who were supposed to speak there decided to withdraw at the last moment.

A brawl between police and the demonstrators is what made Peter Rahbæk Juhl decide not to speak. "I would have liked to deliver a message about peace, but in order to speak about peace, people have to start with themselves. And when people can't say whether it's a demonstration or a fight, then I don't want to go up to the podium."

He can understand that the majority are emotional, but that it was about to develop into a one sided anti-Israel attack.

Organizers expected 1,000 people, but only 500 showed up.

Meanwhile, 2000 people, including a large group of Danish-Palestinians, demonstrated on Saturday in Copenhagen. They played out a Muslim funeral procession. The demonstraters also burned Israeli flags. Police say a small group of youth threw firecrackers at the police and at passerbys.

Danish-Turkish blogger Gulay Kocbay posted YouTube videos of the demonstration. He calls upon his readers not to direct their anger at the wrong people, ie, the Jews/Israelis, who he says are not responsible for what the Israeli government is doing in Gaza.
