The Moroccan-Dutch Author Naima El Bezaz (32) has decided to temporarily avoid publicity due to new threats coming from the Moroccan community.
She was supposed to appear on a television show on March 11th to take part in a book quiz, but she had decided to give that up.
The author has been threatened before. She had written a book "The Outcast" about a Moroccan woman who feels cast out by both the western and immigrant communities and who falls in love with a Jew.
The publishers, Contact, calls the books "the Turkish Delight for Moroccan Netherlands" also because of the spirited sex scenes in the novel.
Recently a 25-year-old was sentenced to 100 hours of community work for threatening her on an online forum. According to a spokesman of the publishers, the decision led to "new negative reactions" in internet forums. Therefore El Bezaz decided on "media silence". It's unknown if the author would complain again by the police.
