A new campaign to fight honor related violence is being launched in Amsterdam. The campaign will have Amsterdam youth visiting schools and speaking about the subject.
A new website was launched as part of the campaign: Wat is Eer (what is honor). The main thing the site stresses is the danger of gossip and rumors. It brings true stories of kids who had to deal with forced marriages and honor violence, which includes anything from being forcing a girl to stay at home or not speak to boys and up to actual murder. The site turns to both boys and girls, giving advice on how to stand up to parents and relatives who make such demands and who to turn to in case of need.
