Copenhagen: Seeking prison imam
Via jobindex (Danish, h/t Uriasposten):
The Copenhagen Prison Administration posted a want-ad for an imam a couple of months ago. This will be the prison's second imam.
According to the job description, 45% of the inmates in the Copenhagen prison system are of foreign origin, and it's estimated that 30% are Muslim. 5,000 are detained annually, most are detained while awaiting trial.
According to the ad, the imam counsels the inmates and employees matters of a cultural nature - particularly on the relationship between Islamic and Danish culture. The imam must therefore have insight into Danish society and preferably also into the cultural conditions of a Muslim majority country. He must speak fluent Danish and English, and preferably also speak Arabic.
