The newspaper “Dagens Nyheter” reports than an Iranian researcher has been denied a visa to attend a science conference in Sweden because she is unmarried.
Two Iranian women researchers had been invited to the Institute of Mathematical Statistics annual meeting, which opens in Gothenburg August 9.
Both were denied visas by the Swedish Embassy in Tehran, but after the conference organizers contacted the embassy, one was allowed to travel.
