Amsterdam: Hospital offers halal baby-food

Babies in the Amsterdam Sint Lucas Andreas hospital will be able to get halal baby food. The hospital claims to be the first in the Netherlands to offer parents the choice of halal baby food. The food comes in ten flavors, for babies from three and seven months.

Halal food was already available for adult patients.

The "inter-confessional" hospital expects the special baby food to meet a great demand. Muslim parents sometimes bring food from home for their sick child. "That is above all difficult for the parent, but the hospital also has an unsatisfactory overview if the kid eats the right food."
