Belgium: Council for religious leaders

The World Conference of Religions for Peace - Belgium (WCRP) announced the establishment of a Council for religious leaders of Belgium. The establishment of the council will take place November 20th in in Oudergem (Brussels Region).

this council, on a national level, has two goals: to be an instrument for dialog for the various religions in Belgium and to form a link between these religions and the civil and political authorities in Belgium.

The WCRP had met in the past months with spiritual leaders of Buddhists, Christians of various churches, Hindus, Jews, Muslims and Sikhs. These leaders will meet regularly in mutual solidarity on equal footing. The leaders are convinced, according ot WCRP, of the need for a interreligious council on a national level, in order to better reap the fruits of the many discussion forum of interreligous and multi-religious meetings that exist on other levels.
