Netherlands: 'Youssef and Kamal' apologize to the Moroccan community

The man responsible for the disputed "Moroccan rappers Youssef and Kamal" apologizes to the Moroccan community, for the first time admitting that he's ethnic Dutch.

A new video clip of "Youssef and Kamal" that appeared last week on the internet brought Geert Wilders to again lodge a complaint against the duo. Inthe clip Woensel, the name of a Eindhoven neighborhood, a group disguised as terrorists beheads a Wilders lookalike.

The author of the Moroccan hip hop duo writes in a statement to De Pers that the man responsible for Youssef and Kamal is indeed an ethnic boy. There's no issue of two Moroccans making these songs with serious intentions. Youssef and Kamal are indeed fictional, just as fictional as the threat experienced by Geert W.

In 2005 Youssef and Kamal put out a internet-hit Kelder (cellar), in which the so-called Moroccans say they'll cut off Wilders' nipples and saw off the hairdo off his head. This brought the PVV politican to lodge a complain for threats. Then followed an "apology rap" and Youssef and Kamal were saved from the law.

Moroccan youth are featured in the new clip. In the past few days alarmed neighbors from Woensel reported them to the local police and the AIVD as Youssef and Kamal. The white resident of Eindhoven says in a statement that 'Youssef and Kamal offer their apologies to the Moroccan community for unintentionally taking part and contributing to the negative image and the rising social unrest as a direct result of the clip Woensel."

Last weekend Wilders said about the clip that "It's never been yet so revolting." For the viewer it's clear that the victim is portrayed as Wilders. The maker of the clip says it was coincidently somebody blond, but not the politician.

The joker, who keeps his true identity secret, also denies that guns and knives were used in the clip. "You see several boys dance with (fret)saws, a small samurai sword, a hockey stick, a crowbar and a rubber hammer, which is more comic than threatening."

The Eindhoven resident is clear about his motives. He blames Wilders of manipulating the people through the media. "Sadly it seems not so difficult to make the phobic image that ethnic Dutch have of Moroccans into reality, in the form of social unrest among the population, thanks to the overzealous and eager conduct of a so-called politician."
